B. Configure your laptop to use the UNC wireless network.

The University has begun using WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) in order to increase the security of wireless connections on campus. Effective March 26, 2003, all computers using wireless on campus have to be configured for WEP. To find out how to do this, please visit: ITS Security Wireless Page. This page requires your Onyen and password to log in. If you wish to find out more information about this new policy, feel free to call 962-HELP for more assistance.

Your laptop is now ready to connect to the UNC wireless network. Once you've completed these steps you will have access to the wireless network within 30 minutes.

C. Take your laptop to a Wireless Network Zone

You will have to be in a wireless network zone, i.e. in range of a wireless access point. Click here for an up-to-date listing of available wireless network zones.

You can now use the wireless network as you would any other internet connection.
